Recently Google launched their online search queries for 2011 - of the many facts and figures released was their fastest rising Food and Drink search results. I'm delighted to say that the company I work with - Just-Eat was ranked number two globally. This is....excellent! I said I'd share the stats below!
Last Summer, Director Rick Meriki took on the challenge of developing a 3 part series of short subjects on the concepts of Movement, Learning and Food. This is the Movement one - commissioned by STA Travel Australia.
If you haven't seen this yet, it's well worth the watch. London is of course hosting the 2012 Olympics this year, and they chose to start the year with a real bang! Normally their fireworks display is amazing to ring in the New Year, but this year was something special. Have a look below!
So it's St. Stephen's Day and I'm doing some random Twitter musing. I saw a retweet by a mate of mine linking to photos taken in London on Christmas Day by Ian Mansfield on Flickr.
They are very interesting to view - the city is totally deserted for one day. There is an almost eerie feeling going on too.
If you were born before 1990, you might remember this useful piece of technology. If you're reading this and its 2020, this was a cassette tape! A rudamentary version of the hard drive.
So I just discovered Spotify last night. A little late to the table perhaps, but here now nonetheless. I absolutely adore discovering new and electic music
Now a fully signed up premium member, I came across this little gem below in the What's New section.
It's by Maria Mena, real name Maria Viktoria Mena, a 25 year old singer from Norway.
The song below is from her 5th studio album - "Viktoria" released on September 23rd 2011. It reached number 5 in the Norway charts and number 17 in the Netherlands MegaCharts.
In my random musings in various tech websites this afternoon, I came across this rather interesting article about Facial Recognition. Bit scary really, but its the way the world is going.

Article:
Facebook has famously raised concerns over member privacy, but by no means is it the only offender.
As technology in the security and surveillance sector continues to improve, Alternet points out 5 everyday places where you could be tracked with facial recognition. Our sumamary appears below, but check out their report for all the details.
1. On the streets. This fall, 40 police departments will be equipped with the Mobile Offender Recognition and Information System (MORIS) device. It's an iPhone app that identifies people based on pictures of their faces.
2. The DMV. If going to the DMV wasn't unpleasant enough, now slightly less than half of the DMV branches are equipped to run someone's picture through a biometric database.
3. Las Vegas casinos, and Kraft and Adidas stores. Casinos are obviously interested in catching known card cheats. But Kraft and Adidas stores recently decided to install a targeted advertising system in their stores to serve up custom ads built around your basic personal details.
4. Bars. An app called SceneTap uses cameras installed in bars to determine a male-to-female ratio. The sole purpose is to help users guide their decision making process on which bar is best to go to for "companionship."
5. All of Japan. They're already way ahead of the curve on this. Facial recognition is already at work from vending machines that make recommendations to truck stops that gauge the tiredness of drivers.
